I started with a fever(39.4/102.92) yesterday. Went to my Dr today and I have two infetions - mastitis and a UTI. I feel like absolute garbage. I am having trouble getting my fever down, even with the meds. I just started Toradol and an antibiotic tonight, buy still the fever remains at 102.92.

I was having such a great recovery! This totally sucks. I have no energy and so many aches and pains it is hard to walk.
I mean really, who gets mastitis when they are not breastfeeding? My breast is so sore that I can't even get dressed by myself.

No questions, just having my own little pity party. :(((((

     Oh, I am sorry to hear you are not feeling well.  What is Toradol?  I usually take two Tylenol to lower fevers.  Mastitis is the pits!  I had it when nursing my youngest daughter ..several times, from clogged milk ducts.  But, you aren't nursing, so I have no idea what caused that!

     We live in south Jersey and there is some kind of bug going around.  Take care and I hope you feel better soon!

Toradol is a prescription anti-inflammatory. I tried Tylenol yesterday, before I went to the Dr, and it didn't do a thing.

I have just taken 2 tylenol an I hope that works. If the fever doesn't go down, I'm not sure if I'll need to go to the hospital.

Do you have any abdominal pain? Did you see your surgeon or general practitioner? If the fevers don't go down, make sure you get in touch with your surgeon ASAP so they can check you out and make sure you don't have an infection more specific to your surgery. I came down with an abdominal abscess about two weeks after surgery and had fevers plus symptoms that felt like the flu (fatigue, aches, weakness, nausea, etc). The abdominal pain didn't really crop up until almost a week into it. Not trying to alarm you, but if the meds aren't helping, keep asking for more help and tests to make sure you are ok. It took an abdominal CT to find my problem.

So sorry..... I hope the meds help, but I agree w/run4pancakes that you shouldn't wait too long if the fever doesn't go down. I too had to go back in the hospital w/a high fever ... was an abscess in the butt wound. Surgeon told me then (not before) that 15% of people end up back in the hospital w/a complication in the few weeks after surgery..... and if you were on pred a lot, your immune system is messed up from it, makes the healing harder.

Hope you get better soon. It's really miserable having such a fever, and fine to complain some.

I've put together a schedule of Tylenol, Toradol, and Antibiotics, and it is working! Still sore from the mastitis, but overall much better than yesterday. I think the 12 hours of sleep helped too! :)

Run4pancakes - I actually called my surgical resident the first night, and when I described everything to him, he felt that it wasn't at all surgical related. I have no abdominal pain, and my output is fine.

Thanks for your concern, and allowing me to have my pity party.
