I need help

Hello I'm fairly new to this site so hello all
I am sneering some help and some advice. I am 33 year old mother of two wonderful girls but unfortunately I have been sick pretty muxch since they were born.
Ok I'll give you the short version hitting the highlights. In 2005 I was having severe constipation that had started really when I was 18 but test after test medication aver medication, it became too bad to handle.
So 2005 I had my entire large intestines removed and half of my severly large rectum. I did not have a ostomy at that point. During the next few years I was in the hospital about 6 times. In 2010 december I went in with severe pains after keeping me for six days and treating me like a drug seeker they sent me home. I was in so much pain I couldn't see strait. Then in February 2011 I woke ip one morning and was unable to move I was in so much pain. I was taken to hospital and again was treated like a drugie. Through day I w put through many test and late afternoon the doctor said I had a ruptured bowel and had to be taken to surgry imedieantly. I was taken and about 3 hours later I was in recovery with a ileostomy and a huge wound on the midline of my stomach.
In may my ostomy was removed. Three weeks ago I was taken to the er and they found a small bowel obstruction. They cleared it without surgery.
The last two day my and is swelling and I am having pain and it is increasing. I don't want to go to the hospital.
I was wanting any diet ideas.
Any ideas to prevent obstruction.

Welcome, Dawn. I'm so sorry that you've had extreme pain and legitimate health problems and have been treated so poorly at the hospital. Is there a different hospital you can go to where the nurses and doctors might be more compassionate?

I've had several small bowel obstructions and a ruptured small bowel, all caused by scar tissue from surgery, and would have died had I not gone to the hospital each time. I know you don't want to go, but if you're in pain and think you have an obstruction, you have to call your doctor and go.

If the obstruction is caused by scar tissue, then there's nothing that I know of diet-wise that you can do to keep it from happening. From my experience, I would have obstructed even on a liquid diet.

Sounds like you are having another adhesion small bowel obstruction. THese are serious. You don't need diet tips you need to get to a better hospital. Any big ones near you? Make some calls, then hit the road. Obstructions can rupture. No time to wait. GOod luck. ROsemary

PS I went through hell, been OK for 4 years with an ileo necessitated by colon rectal and small bowel injury at a different hospital than the one who gave me the ileo (only thing that could be done to save me) , but now am having some weird small bowel transit issues, but yes, do lodge a complaint at the way you were treated as a drug seeker as clearly you were not. Your state med board may be a place to start. DOn't even bother with the CEO of the offending hospital as they just sweep it under the carpet. Been there done that. Good luck. ROsemary
