I had ileostomy bag in November 2011. At that time they set me up for future surgery by creating a pouch for me. I had radiation and chemo prior to the surgery so they were worried about my future with the pouch. They want to do the surgery in March (2012) but that depends on whether I have more chemo or not. Won't find out that until next appt w/Dr (next month).

I have read some stories about the reversal surgery and most of them have been horror stories. I'm really worried about myself because the radiation did a lot of damage besides shrinking the cancerous tumor I had.

Are there successful surgeries? I haven't read all the posts but just wondering if getting this reversal will do me any good. I fear any 'accident' I may have once the surgery is over. Will I ever be able to leave my house again? Have lunch w/friends; Go on a vacation?

I have had a lot of issues w/my ileostomy bags (leaking). Also had bleeding raw skin from the glue on the bags. Using the powder helped a lot and I am much better at getting a secure fit with the bags.

Still very worried and would love to hear some other stories. Will try to read some of the older posts...
