Ideas for keeping seal with a draining abcess under wafer?

I am having a hell of a time keeping pouches on thanks to the draining abcess that is located just below my stoma and under any wafer that I apply.  I have used skin prep all around the abcess site, made sure it is very dry and clean when applying the pouch and I even cut a small piece of gauze that fit just over the abcess site (to prevent the packing material from sticking to the wafer and pulling out when I remove the pouch) and nothing is working.  I have had to change my pouch 3 times (about to do the 4th) all due to this drainage.

Right now I have it kind of jerry-rigged; I folded up a 4x4 gauze pad and tucked it into my bottom montgomery strap and it is collecting any drainage that is seeping from under the wafer (which is very minimal/non existent right now).  As long as there is no ostomy output escaping I guess it isn't that much of a big deal?  I'd love to hear any input/ideas from you guys.  I'll also be asking my WOCN later today - she is picking me up for my first ostomy support group!

Just wanted to update y'all in case you find yourself in a similar situation; my WOCN suggested a few things - 1)apply the small piece of gauze as I have been doing then take a piece of eakin seal, mold it into a small thin disc slightly larger than the gauze and apply to the site. 2) apply duoderm over the packing/site (I think I gave my duoderm back to her b/c I didnt' think I'd have a need for it - need to check my stash). 3) move the wafer - duh! She suggested - when I am wearing the pedi pouch that has no starter hole - to move the wafer up and create the hole for my stoma lower possibly moving the abcess site outside the adhesive altogether.

Additionally, she had me pack the abcess with aqualcel instead of regular packing strips.

I didn't end up using the eakin seal but I did have a couple of coloplast "sticks" that I brought home from the hospital and I just took a little bit of that and patted into an oval that covered the gauze and it is working well thus far *fingers crossed*. It is VERY sticky stuff so I am hoping it does a good job until I see the doc on Wednesday.

Ok, do NOT do what I did if you encounter the same problem. The aquacel did great at soaking up the drainage - until it was saturated and then it was so swollen that it blocked the opening and all the drainage backed up and found its way out at the base of my stoma - mother freaker. Soooo, needless to say the doc was not the happiest camper with either me or the WOCN-she didn't come right out and say it but I know her well enough to know that she was aggravated. So, back to packing just with the packing strips and changing it every other day OR whenever my pouch blows off (great!) and she put me on doxycycline (sp?) for 10days. Annnnnd, the kicker - my butt wound is closing on the outside but not the inside so I get to have packing strip in there too to keep the outside open until the inside catches up. God bless my husband and all this packing he will be doing :)

P.s. she felt so bad b/c everything hurt so bad today she must have said "I'm sorry" 50 times and then as I was leaving she tried to give me more pain meds! I told her she gave me 2 gallon size bottles of lortab when I was released LOL!
