I think my nightmare is finally over!

I was finally discharged from my GI doc's care yesterday. I still have to get the original hernia which started this fixed, but that can be done much later. Like everyone else with abdominal surgeries, I will have the chance of adhesion problems, but my dr thinks it is slim. I feel about normal, except for some pain off and on, and my incision area will never be level with my abdomen. I guess I won't be a swimsuit model. If that is the worst I have, then it's worth it. Now I can start running and training for races again and loose this little belly I developed. I go for my flying medical renewal in 2 weeks and that has me a bit worried. I should be cleared without problems, but it's the government and my flight surgeon has to call the FAA to discuss it. Ugh. Oh well, I am off to Disneyland for the weekend and then Disney World next month (I hope). Sorry for the self-gloss.

Oh, Rosemary, I only received one of your emails. Are you going to be here for Easter? If so, and if you don't have plans, you are welcome to have dinner with us in Palmer.

So happy to hear that you are recovering well. Hernia surgery has come a long way and after this, you will feel even that much better! I had 2 laparotomy's and then incision bled, had to remain open to heal shut. It is such a dip now and actually pushed the little abdominal fat I had and made mountains out of it. I absolutely hate it....sometimes more than the ileostomy Like you, I won't be modeling, easy to conceal, so it's a small price to pay for your life. I too have returned into my athleticism, it's a wonderful feeling, sometimes an out of body experience when I rationalize where I've been and who I've become.

Disneyland.....have a great time! That's on my 'to go list', my kids are 9 & 8, have to do it soon! Safe travels!

Have a great time at Disney. Thanks for the invite for Easter, but I have an invite from a neighbor but thank you so much anyway for thinking of me.

Good luck with the flight physical. I sure hope you will be fine, but you had had no prior abdominal surgeries and were in otherwise healthy shape so you should be fine. Too bad that you got the hernia back which started all this! There is something really circular with that Karma wise. What a bad thing you went through to get a hernia fixed and now it's back. But as you say, it may just be OK and you are so lucky to have come through all you did.
