I think it was a bad box

so my multitude of changes due to blowing up, blowing off, etc. had me pondering if I may have had a bad box of pouches.  When the abcess drained out the bottom it didn't blow the pouch off but the breakdown of the adhesive caused me to change it anyway.  That was to blame a couple times and then the cantaloupe of course but I think it was a batch with bad adhesive b/c today my WOCN put on my new pouch at my appointment and about an hour later - BAM, off it came!  The output was not thick and should have easily passed through the hole in the bag with no problem but instead it was all up underneath and the pressure of it broke the adhesive seal.  I called my supplier and explained what had happened and they are sending me another box.  Then I called the manufacturer to let them know and they are sending me another box as well.

As for the abcess, we are now trying covering it with a small piece of aquacel ag and then securing it with tegaderm patch.  That is how she did it at my appointment but I think the patch needed to be cut down more, so that is what I did tonight.  *fingers crossed* that I wake up with everything still intact.

My husband was given a belt in the hospital and adapted and adjusted to it from the start. He wears one at all times and feels it really does help keep the pouch on. Especially since he can't use the flanges with the outer adhesive borders all the more reason why it helps keeping it secure.

He uses the light convexity Coloplast Sensura and has had very good luck.
