OT - Where are you from and where did you have your surgery?

I'm from Cincinnati Ohio. i had my first surgery at Bethesda which is not the best place for surgery, by a general surgeon - it was an emergency and I was already admitted for a flare when my colon perforated.
My second two surgeries were done at Christ Hospital (Cincinnati) by Dr. Janice Rafferty - she's the consult doctor for the national ostomy magazine and is awesome! I would recommend her to anyone as she is very nice and does everything to make sure you understand the procedures. She even held my hand in the OR before I fell asleep. :)
i believe my surgeries were done as teaching experiences, i had interns tell me how cool my surgery was to watch and I had a few nurses in training ask if they could see my ostomy bag being changed, which i was glad to allow. I was able to talk to them about my experience and they seemed genuinely interested in the how process.

San Francisco Bay Area (hence the name). I had my surgery at Peninsula Hospital in Burlingame, CA.

I am in Columbus, Ohio and had my three surgeries at Cleveland Clinic. If I was planning for a permanent ileo, I would have likely gone with Riverside Hospital here in Columbus. Once I learned about the j-pouch expertise at CC I was more than willing to make that 2 1/2 hour drive. No regrets from that choice. They are amazing there!

Thunder Bay, ON, Canada. My son had his surgery preformed at Victoria Hospital in London,ON.

I live east of Toronto and had my surgery in Toronto at Mount Sinai, which is a teaching hospital. I only have good things to say about my experience, although I wish they could have accommodated my diet better - their kitchen, for some reason, doesn't understand that no meat, no dairy, no eggs means NO meat, NO dairy, NO eggs

At the time I lived in Northern NJ (now Central NJ) and I had my surgery (and many, many since) at The Valley Hospital, Ridgewood

Vancouver, BC.. ST Paul's Hospital. Surgeon was Dr Ahmer Karimuddin. -- Jpouch surgery.

My husband's GI doctor is in Appleton, WI area. He is so uninvolved, slow to respond, and very hands off. The nurse is just plain rude. My husband has only been diagnosed about 6 months ago and has gone from using the bathroom a lot and some accidents to constant pain, constant bleeding, spasmodic colon, a very painful anal fissure, sick and exhausted all the time. He's been on 6 different meds and only gotten worse. Can anyone recommend a doctor within 100 miles? And how long before they do something about an anal fissure that leaves my husband awake every night and groaning and sweating in pain with every bathroom visit? We are getting desperate over here.
