Another stomal food blockage! auuuugh!

Oh, God, today I had a stomal food blockage on a tuna sandwich! 5 hours of NOTHING outputtting, then the pain. Then having to drink a gallon of hot tea and walk to China. THen it came out all at once. This is not a happy thing! Greasy Tuna, (yes it was D'Angelo's), normally sails right through me.

I am supposed to be on many ships and the trip to Russia April 19th. Tomorrow I have to contact my new ileo surgeon and get another one of those CT enterographies with the oral water contrast and see what is cooking. This new surgeon keeps saying IBS but that would not cause a food blockage. Plus anything I have learned of IBS is it is uneven contractions of the colon which I am not using.

Oh, lord, I hate to even deal with this, but I have to.

Wish me luck. I think I will stick to rice crispies, protein shakes, and scrambled eggs.

esoR...I'm so sorry about going thru  blockage. I have never had one (knock on wood)...I was wondering how  U know when it is a food blockage & when it happens do U have 2 go 2 the Emergency Room or will it work itself out? I wish U all the best & hope it doesn't happen again.

That stinks, Rosemary :(. Seems you can't get a break from these blockages. Hope everything goes well with the test.

Serenity, what happens is that after you eat, no effluent comes out into the pouch or some just liquidy stuff comes out and the major food bolous backs up in back of the stoma and creates a LOT of pain. IF you are lucky, you can melt it down with hot drinks or very salty or sugary drinks. Coconut water and grape juice work well too. Providing one is not nauseaus. THEN you walk a LOT. Then you sort of pull your knees up to your chest and hopefully the food will come out. Luckily SO FAR, I have been able to pass all of my blockages, but I really gotta find out what the heck is going on. This is not normal. I have 2 or 3 per year. And I don't eat any roughage ever.
