Sigh, at least I still have mucus coming from the jpouch. Supposedly that is a good sign that the intestines still work.

Surgeon noted the muscles down there were fine since I do kegals all the time. He said the jpouch was a little small and that my recovery time might take longer than most people, but he would allow me to take Imodium if the frequency got too crazy.

Newshiny, right, nearly 2 years. If that's been a loop stoma, then that 50 cm between stoma and the pouch have been on vacation all that time. It has to work itself fit again. It's good that your doctor said it might be alonger recovery for you. Better to know what to expect.

Enigma, thank you, I really hope you're right! On the other hand, I have been having a much easier time than people who are having a having a much harder time.

My surgeon, on whom I've had a crush since day one, smelled like he'd just been out for a couple of cigarettes. Totally surprised me.

No, the crush is still there, it just showed me that even a big shot surgeon is a conflicted human being just like everyone else.

oh right and he wears clogs. But on him it's cute.
He also told me that the only real nightmare with take downs is when thing don't go through, so as long as everything is flowing from mouth to butt, and the sphincter is alright, then there's no problem that can't be worked out.

I guess I'm feeling sad that the surgery process is over and I won't be seeing him again, and he's married and has a family, which makes me all the sadder. sniff.

Not where I am. A follow-up would take place with one of his underlings. Anyway, he is still married and has a family, so any chasing from my side would be a bit dumb.

Oh the clogs would so kill it for me! There are some things I just can't overlook:)
You forgot the other good things about the hospital, the drugs, they bring you warm blankets, and the drugs :)
Sounds like you are feeling better that's great!

The clogs are acceptable in northern europe and there a lot of medical staff who wear them as work gear. I've never seen my surgeon in any other kind of shoes.
I thought the drugs were kind of fun the first time round but really rather keep them out of my system.
We don't have lemon ice :(
We might get apple sauce or a banana. I cannot say anything good about the food here.

I'm pretty sure I am out of here tomorrow. Cannot imagine speding the entire weekend here. I made plans for tomorrow night but probably won't be up to it, considering that I sort of make it down the hall for another cup of tea, not really upright and feeling the incision very much, not that I would say it hurts.
I am jig-jagging back and forth between feeling ok, that I got myself through this really tedious process of three surgeries and can now re-understand my body without the bag, and this doomed sinking feeling I have when I think of how much organizing it is going to require to be able to get my bottom clean at work in a toilet cabin, and dealing with leakages at work. I know all this will get better I'm just so tired and in need of something really special to happen in my life just for me. For the last three years it has been illness and obligation and being a professional person and dealing with various disappointments. These leakages right now are the absolute abyss for me.

I should really pick a language to learn and stick to it. -_- I keep jumping around from Japanese to Spanish to German, lol. My mind feels like it is in overdrive; I want April 18th to hurry.

I don't remember mentioning it, but I was in the same state of mind after my first surgery. I kept second guessing myself, asking myself if I did the right thing. I felt stupid because I thought I didn't go all the way with trying out every possible treatment for UC. What if I tried the Remicade just a little longer, what if I tried Humira, what if I tried the Paleo diet instead of the BRAT diet, etc, etc.

It sucked, to be honest. I couldn't go outside very long without getting itchy or before I started getting really tired. I couldn't eat what I wanted and when I did eat it was small. I was constantly on pain medications so I had this "brain fog/high" feeling which messed me up. I was extremely weak; I couldn't even walk around Walmart or Target without running out of breath or my body starting to ache.

And you know what? It got better. Much better. 3 months later my strength returned and I was starting to be able to eat whatever I wanted (yay hot wings). 6 months later I was working at my new job. A year later I went to Gatlinburn in Tennessee to go rafting. Year and a half later I was promoted at my job.

And now two years later I'm going in for my takedown. Will I have to change my diet for a while? Probably. Will I have bumps in the road or something to overcome? Probably. But if there is anything that going through my first surgery showed me is that it does get better. It might take some time and you might have to put effort into making it better, but it will get better.

I'm determined to get better. I have to...I'm getting married in August, lol.
