Thanks everyone! I am doing pretty well except for some lingering anemia issues. I got anemic during the course of my surgeries, especially after having the abscess and getting so sick. That's all pretty normal and we were never too concerned about
it. In February I had a physical and was more anemic still than expected. Also, aside from hemoglobin being low, iron stores were being depleted. So, I did some supplementing and got the numbers back up a smidge. Coming out of my race two weeks ago, I was just exhausted so got a recheck and my hemoglobin is back down again and iron stores even lower than before (clinically considered non-existent). Now back on the supplements but starting some tests to see why the iron levels knock back down so much when I quit taking the pills.
I'm having an upper GI scope and pouch scope on June 7th to rule out any GI bleeding and they will also check for celiac disease at that time. I will admit I was hoping to stay out of the GI's office for a good long while, but I like and trust him so it's going to be ok. I do have a tiny fear that they will come back and tell me I actually have Crohn's or something....though I have no symptomology to support that so it is just fear at this point. I was able to run four miles today with my husband and came through it well, so I am hopeful this is just a blip on the recovery radar and I will keep plugging right along.
