Pain around navel from Hassen Trocar

Hi All,

So far so good with the new stoma, thank god I finally found help at Mt. Sinai. Should have gone there a LOT sooner.

Just cannot figure out one thing, I have BAD pain around my navel from where they put in the trocar to do the laproscopic part of the surgery.

It gets really bad if I have been up too long. Went for my post op check up yesterday and they checked for a port site hernia but did not find any. They said that it should get better with time. I hope so. I take Motrin and can sleep at night. It's not like it is very deep. It is rather a muscle layer surface pain really bad when I touch it. So all things considered am doing well.


Just wondered if anyone had similar experience. I did talk to one forum member who said that she had similar pain and all of a sudden one day it stopped. Hoping mine does too.

Sorry Rosemary, I don't know anything about this, but hope you feel better soon. You just got it checked out w/the docs you trust -- remember how quickly they found your other problems, and it's highly likely that they would have found it if there was something seriously wrong.

My 2 laporscopic surgeries that I had prior to my 2 laporatomy's were painful. The portal area was tender and sore for quite some time. I was young, in my 20's and otherwise healthy. My second lap surgery was my appendectomy and unfortunately, I had just given birth to my 1st child the week before. The pain was horrible, especially having to cradle a colicky newborn endlessly for hours, not to mention my baby lay on my stomach breastfeeding. Also, my diet was quite restricted, everything was just bloated and constipated.

You were just checked out and everything is fine, it's a slow process but you will get there.
