Post-op my back felt like it had totally seized up and that someone was squeezing the life out of my kidneys. I suffered for a long time, not sleeping well and in pain from my incision and my back. I found a fabulous massage therapist who, over a period of weeks, was able to release the muscles in my back and provide some relief. He told me that when you are laying semi-upright, the muscles in your back fire all the time. Of course that is how I spent most of my time when I was in hospital and then at home.
The sore throat and cough is common after surgery as the endotracheal tube (breathing tube) goes down your throat, past the vocal cords and into your lungs. It can give you a nasty case of laryngitis, a dry cough, and very sore throat. I am concerned that yours has lasted so long. It should be totally gone now since your surgery was back in June. You need to get that checked out. Do you think you might have reflux? That could be a cause of your cough and sore throat. Keep us up to date on your condition.
