New Bags, New Filters, Convatech

I have been having issues with leaking through the filter of my Convatech bags #411310. It only leaks if I wear the bags over 2 days though, but still, it is annoying....so, I called Convatech to ask them what I could do about it.

Well, the lady said they have new bags with new filters specially made for watery output, so she had me some samples sent out.

Well, the bag # is 416417. They have the brown soft material on the outside, a wider tail like Coloplast, and a tail closure like the old Hollister closure. For some reason they have a type of pocket, but I am not sure what this is for as it seems to be useless.

The filter has not leaked, but of course has quit working as I'm on day #3 with it.

When I sit down to open the tail, as I roll it down, I have noticed it is wet from leaking, just like with the NEW Hollister bags??

This does not get on my clothes, but instead gets on my hands if I don't have toilet paper to dry it off.

I have found that it is also hard to get the tail open to clean the end of the tail out.

This is only my 1st bag though and I will use all 5 to see if I can get the hang of opening the tail better.

Has anyone else tried these new bags?

These are the bags I use. I use the pocket to fold over the bottom of the bag. It folds over the velcro closure and makes the bag a little bit shorter. I haven't really had any problems with leakage from the bottom of the bag - just once but there was a tiny pin hole in the bag.

I tried these new pouches and there are some things I liked and some I didn't. I loved the pocket to flip the tail up in to make the pouch shorter. The new filter with the protective plastic sheet still clogged after one night for me. The sheeting that "protects" the filter made it next to impossible to use Osto EZ Vents. This is the main reason I won't be using the pouches unless they come up with a filter-less version. I like the fabric they are made of better than the old style Convatec pouches. I could take or leave the wider opening- it is just more surface to clean. I too noticed the tail leaked a little but nothing like the new Hollister pouches. If I made sure to swab out the inside of the tail well before rolling it, this leakage was minimal.

Hubby finds the same thing with the Coloplast Sensura ones too. No problems. 

They have a filter that he immediately puts one of thos white circular stickers over when he does a new change and doesn't even bother with the limited use you get from the filters.
