More Surgery

Well I saw my surgeon last Monday and she is doing a revision of my stoma next Tuesday. She did the finger dilation test and thinks that it is stenosing (spelled that wrong I know) at the skin level. Today I'm having really odd bright yellow colored stool slowly come through my stoma and I'm feeling nauseated and bloated :(
I didnt' get a chance to ask too many questions when I saw the surgeon. I'm just wondering how exactly they do a stoma revision and what happens after?

I had a stoma revision this June as mine severely stenosed at the fascia (abdominal wall muscle level) after 4 years. Laproscopically the surgeon went in and cut some adhesions from around the small bowel to free it up to bring it up and make a new stoma. I was only in the hospital for 3 days. It was not in and of itself anything big. Worked great for first month.

COURSE with my KARMA, now I am having some type of recurrence of stenosis though I do not yet have the severe signs but the vague signs are there: having to eat primarily liquidy stuff, food blockages on stuff as mild as an egg sandwich, having to lie on my right side (stoma side) at night to have anything pass. Lying on my opposite side can actually shut off output. I am like what is that all about?

I had this issue checked at another hospital by a colorectal surgeon as my June revision was done emergency status by a general surgeon. A resident with a tiny pinky finger did the stoma exam very gently. LOTS of blood came out and turns out the walls of the stoma actually split! THANK GOD it healed...... but still not functioning well enough to eat real food. SO discouraged.

BUT I think you will do OK as you likely don't have all the issues I do with scar tissue etc. BUT after the finger check even with all the issues my output improved for 4 hours and I could move out gas and stool really well, but I too got a bunch of liquidy yellow stuff. It is almost like for awhile everything is SOOO open that bile comes out. IDK just a guess.

Interesting that my abdominal wall was open so the general surgeon did a good job on that, but I may have some issue going on at the skin level. Plus half my stoma collapsed so only 1/2 inch across now puts out waste. Could be why it split. God help me if I get this thing revised again it has to work. IDK how much more I can take of this. I have to pump the protein and stay strong.

What causes stenosing?

I have also had a revision though not because of this problem. It was not a big deal...I actually had it done as an outpatient.
