Anyone have their surgery done in VT?

Hello,

I am seriously considering surgery for my UC as I just can't get it under control. Currently, the 200mg of imuran are making it so I can get by day to day, but still have lots of urgency, blood, etc... Definitely better than I was, but still can't lead a "normal" life. Not so sure if I want to go the remicade route. Anyway, I am going to ask for a surgery consult at my GI appt in two weeks. I am curious to hear about anyone's experiences with the surgeons in VT. Was thinking about looking in the Boston area as well. I know I need a good one!

I had an illeostomy at Beth Israel hospital in Boston last year. Dr. Moss was my gastro and Dr. Nagel was my surgeon. Maybe i was just lucky but I have no complications and accept for the obvious changes in my daily bathroom visits my life has been great-running,swimming,pain free etc. These people are among the best in the world.

My surgeon is Pat Sylla at MGH in Boston. She is excellent, and she does the surgery lapro. I only have four tiny scars. I did have some complications, but I don't blame her, as I was very sick at the time.

I had my surgery in Burlington, Dr. Trevesani is a phenominal surgeon, unfortunately he was deployed to Iraq for a year. BUT, I highly recommend the continence clinic there. They are amazing!!! Stay away from gastro Dr. Lee. I am sure he is a very competant doc, but EVERYTHING you have concerns about illicit the response " Let's wait and see what happens"...Other then that, I was very happy with Burlington.

Glad to hear. I had been seeing Dr. Cataldo about 2 yrs ago until I was referred to a GI. I have been seeing Dr. Zubarik as my GI. Was thinking about asking for Dr. Cataldo again and wondered if anyone had experience with him.

Thanks for the names in Boston. I would prefer to stay local as we have no family around here and 2 little ones. But if I don't find someone I like here, Boston is my next choice.

Dr Cataldo has written quite a few articles on the net. You may want to google him then his publications. I do not know him personally but the articles sound on tartget. Rosemary

Hi! I had a sub-total colectomy at Fletcher Allen 5 years ago so I do not have a colostomy bag, there was a little piece of the colon left to reattach to the rectum. I had Dr. Neil Hyman who is wonderful! He has a great bedside manner as well and he is the best doctor I've ever had.
