I'm just curious who has named their stoma (past or present) and why you named your stoma that name.

My stoma's name is Stewart. I've seen Stewart chosen by several other people on various sites so I think it's a popular stoma name. I think I named him Stewart for the alliteration ("Stewart the Stoma") and because "Stewart" seems like such a prim and proper name while the stoma, with all it's noises, gurgles, etc. at in opportune times- is not a prim and proper body part. :).

MyStomas name is Bubbles. She does that alot. Not loud or embarrassing but just cute and silly. She doesn't like working too hard and so I have to learn to chew better I've decided. I have to keepremembering she has saved my life because she seems to have her mind about leaks and various other happenings.

My girl is Lily, as in "Lily, the iley" most of the time.

However, just like children when mis-behaving she gets called by her first and middle name.

Mine is also Lilly, means transformation and rebirth (well the Lotus flower means this which is a type of waterlily). I figured that it's my chance to start my life over so thought the name was appropriate.

I havent given my stoma a name but as I have a thing about words & anagrams, I would probably go for Tomas.

When I still had a stoma, I named it:
Crazy puppy from outer space,
because that's how it behaved.
Crazy puppy for short.

Stella - means star, short for Estella. Chosen also for alliteration, stella the stoma. However, she is now referred to as Stella 2.0 b/c of a revision :)

I have named mine Timothy. I am not sure why, but I have decided with all of the terrible noises it makes that it must be a male as women would NEVER be this rude. HAHA Today I had to go to court for that car accident that I had that totaled my van, UGH, and I ended up all the way in the back in the corner because Timothy would not shut up farting and gurgling. GEEZ What fun! I was cracking up inside.

Her name is Lola.  She can be a diva and show her stuff but then she can be quiet and reserved.  Lola also means "sorrows".  At time I have been in sorrow that I did not have the surgery before, that I suffered so long before pushing for help.  But I am never in sorrow tha I had the surgery or that I have Lola.

No name here....just refer to the stoma as "he" ...as in how is he doing, or he's being a little noisy today etc.

I love all the names and stories! So entertaining and they really speak to the stoma's personalities and some of the struggles we have gone through.

Squirtle! That's the best stoma name ever!

It's nameless for me, though interestingly enough, ActiveUCer, I did think about naming it Stu. I guess it is a common thing, eh?

Though for real- given the round and red nature of my stoma, I seriously considered geeking out and calling it Hal (from 2001: A Space Odyssey). But that would be creepy.

Well, my mom has nicknamed my stoma "Giggles' and my dad called him "Gorp" so even if there are any other Stu's out there I can still differentiated ;).

If Hal starts talking to you in that monotone voice, then you should definitely freak out!!

I picked the name Joey since I have a pouch. Joey is a baby kangaroo...and since kangaroos have pouches..it's a good fit!

"Mr Bumpy" is his name, he got his name when I had a dot drawn on my belly for placement a few weeks before surgery. And he turned out small, bumpy and apparently cute so he suits his name. Sometimes I call him a fat little puffer fish.

I named mine Earl, not sure why the first name that popped in my head, probably due to all the pain medication : ) My mom wanted to name it Stella the stomy. Sometimes it gets called Stomy.

I had a discussion with my ostomy nurse about what if it was a girl, and how I automatically assumed it was a boy. ;p

I do not have a stoma, but after reading this ( and realizing getting a bag is more than likely a probability), I think it woud be called ~Kirby~ after the vacumn, because it is a male, and sucks..lol...

I am four days post-op (discharge from hospital tomorrow), and the first time I looked at my stoma after surgery, I named it Stella.... Mostly for the alliteration ("Stella the Stoma"), but seemed appropriate since Stella also means star - it is the new star in my life that has saved me from misery and quite literally death. Also just because it is a little bright red dot... seems kind of star-like.
