So I had my second bad experience with raw foods yesterday. If anyone recalls, I had a terrible blockage due to mango last April. Well, I have been slowly introducing some raw fruits and veggies over the last year. about
a month or so ago I ate a very small salad with no real issues, other than needing to drink a lot of fluid to pass everything. Yesterday didn't go as well.
I was at the beginning of my son's 2-hour soccer practice when I felt a pinching, weird sensation at the site of my pouch. I went into the bathroom to double check, and sure enough, there was the salad trying to push its way out the side of the wafer! My stoma is about 3/4 of an inch long, but sometimes, when it is working hard, it shrinks and widens to push things out. I guess it must have shrunk low enough to push things under the wafer. I couldn't believe it, as that had never happened before!
I learned a lesson. Although I will eat salad again, I will wait until it is a day when #1, I will be home, and #2, I am ready to change my appliance on that particular day.
Other than that incident, I have added so many new foods to my diet. I am almost at a point of eating all of the foods I enjoy, although some are in moderation.
