I have to have an incisional hernia repaired Friday and the surgeon is using mesh. It's very close to my belly button. Anyone have any experience with this? He told me that it is painful because the mesh has to adhere to the muscles, but I wasn't how painful it is relative to the other surgeries I've had?

I had an incisional hernia repaired two weeks after having my colon removed. Mine was in my left lower quadrant area. I was still in pain from the first surgery, so I can't really say if the hernia repair was painful or not. I did not notice any additional pain to the pain I was already having if that makes sense.
