Noisy Stoma @ Times

Does anyone have an active noisy stoma when nervous? it seems like when i'm nervous and i'm in a room full of silent people thats when it decides to become noisy. it gets so embarrassing. Not sure if i tell people whats going on when their hearing this noise coming from my direction or try to ignore it.

Does anyone have any advice?

Mine does the same thing. As soon as the room gets quiet my stoma gets loud.

I squish mine with my hand and try to 'muffle' the noise.. not entirely sure it works ;-) I'm sure it sounds much worse to us than other people though. Maybe ask a close friend when it's being noisy and see if they notice it.

To other people it sounds like your stomache is rumbling.

Will it quiet down if you eat a little before you sit down?

I use my arm to muffle noises but mine are not often now....I also use the "haven't eaten" line.

Don't forget normal people's bodies make noise too!
