Hi Christine, yikes yes, we can get diverticles throughout the digestive tract. Ask your doctor if there would be symtoms. It's not really proven that nuts would irritate diverticles, unless you experienced that when you had a colon. In that case, nuts and tiny seeds, like on strawberries, would have give you problems. But if they didn't, they probably won't. Main thing is to have enough fiber (psyllium is great for that) and drink enough water.
Creamy peanut butter became a staple during my last horrible UC flare - It was a great protein and quick energy because it's so fatty (at a time when I needed any kind of energy I could get), and it's still my favorite breakfast on toast. Some people with stomas find it makes their output too thick, I never had problem with it.
