Swelling, redness and tender around stoma

Hi everyone. I got my ileostomy in June 2012. A little over a week ago I noticed minor swelling around part of my stoma (on the stomach itself). It was also very tender. Fast forward 9-10 days and now the swelling is worse and it's red. It's still tender, though it's not as bad as it was before. I think I had a partial blockage at the onset of the symptoms but it's cleared up. Any idea what could be causing redness, swelling and the tender feeling?

Is it a skin issue? Could you have developed an allergy to one of your products? Or could the skin have gotten irritated when your stoma swelled with the blockage?

I think it's worth it to check in with your nurse or surgeon since the swelling has gotten worse; probably good for someone who knows about these things to take a look.
