Immodium - take it no less than 30 minutes before eating. Not 29. It holds for about 4 hours. Then you take more, wait 30 minutes and have the next meal.
Foods are individual. There are lots of lists on the net, the hospital probabl recommended a soft diet. Stay away fromthings that cause gas, things with coarse fiber, mushrooms, anything raw. What helps with bm's are any form of potatoes, noodles, creamy peanut butter, small portions of rice with chicken or fish, cottage cheese, eggs. Very small amounts of sweets. Stay away from things with a lot of cream or butter. Nothing hot and spicy, or at least not very hot and spicy. Really fresh spices, like if you eat in a good Viet Namese restaurant, where the put the natural form of the spice direction into your soup or whatever, is a bit radical for you right now, that would give me D.
