Maybe bad news, has me worried!

My grandma had colon cancer 8 years ago and almost to the day had the tumor removed, with no complications. She had her scopes for 5 years after that, and told us she was still having them. But hasn't been for 3 years. Well she went to the Dr the other day and they drew blood and she is at the point where she needs a blood transfusion. She hasn't had any blood coming out from anywhere, so it's very odd. She had a problem a while back where her blood count mysteriously got low, but then after some iron pills went back up. Well she quit taking the iron pills and she has a horrible diet. So I gues it's possible that her count is just low.
She did finally agree to a blood transfusion and to go get a scope. Even though she doesn't want to. They mentioned possible polyps, which if that's the case they will just get them out during the scope. But I don't understand how if it's coming from her colon it isn't coming out. It seems like if it was leaking into her stomach she would be feeling sick, and other than some general tiredness, probably from the low blood and the fact that she is 85, she feels fine.
The only other thing that has happened to her is about 4 months ago she started getting hoarse a lot, or "having a frog in her throat" as we say down here.
I don't see how that could possibly have anything to do with it.
I really just wanted to tell someone who would understand about possible stomach stuff, it's hard for my family to understand it, and I don't really like to talk about it to them. I don't really know why. It just feels like if I talk to people it makes it more real.

today she probably ate a few crackers, just plain crackers, maybe half a frozen chicken pot pie, some popcorn maybe, a cup of coffee and some water but not much. And maybe a few strawberries or a mayonaise sandwich.
Although I can't talk I eat like a two year old!

So sorry to hear about your grandmother. I get bleeding ulcers in my small intestine from my Crohn's. I NEVER can see blood in my poop, because it is coming from so high up and it folds into the stool. The only way I know is that I get anemic and then they test my stool and it is positive for blood. If it is a very slow bleed, you really can't see it....it's nothing like the bright red blood typical of UC. I hope she is ok

Well I took her for her blood transfusion the other day, and when we got there they had to draw another CBC to see what her counts were. And her hemoglobin had gone UP on it's own! So that was a good sign. But the dr had talked like it was really low, but it was 8.8, transfusions aren't usually done until 7, and it ended up going up to 9.5. They still did it, even though the nurse said she was surprised the dr still ordered it, since they are almost never done under 8, unless there is active bleeding.
Anyway my Grandma went back to her GI a few days ago, and she said that she was going to wait a little while to do the scope, until the next set of blood work came back. She still wants her to have it, but I think she wants to see if the hemoglobin drops again, and how quickly it drops.
So it was sort of good news. She is feeling much better since she got the transfusion though, so that's good.
