hey liz. medical stuff not great.. but that's life. struggling with sibo very bad (antibiotics aren't working) with significant unintentional weightloss (below size zero now.. and it sucks!) and have been instructed to try low FODMAP diet and still have butt wound, sinus tract, maybe fistula now ..healing issues and procedures and probably more surgery .. but woe is me!!!
for you...I'm gonna give you my short list of protein foods, many in "snack form". I have found that after surgeries and during recovery that eating five or six smaller meals also helps to build my appetite a bit. And I have been told to do it for pain reasons due to adhesions, and now because they are trying to get me to stop losing weight and I have to get up to 70gram of protein a day. You can even get a sixth meal in if you put a snack by your bed at night and eat it when you wake up to empty in the middle of the night.
here's a quick list for you.
hummus (dip carrots or pretzels or pitas in it), scrambled eggs with cheese, peanut butter on toast, hard boiled eggs, almond butter on anything, cottage cheese. greek yogurt plain or put some fruit on top of it, smoothies made with greek yogurt (but yourself a cuisinart hand blender and put in greek yogurt, any fresh fruit you like, honey, and a bit of almond milk, even can add flax seed), granola look for high protein lower sugar kinds (if you are afraid - stick it in the blender with some almond milk), certain cereals, tuna salad and chicken salad on crackers or pretzles dipped in it or just make mini sandwiches with it, oatmeal, luna bars or macrobars, oatmeal, beans - like lentils just add to soup, or garbanzos put on your salad, cheese and crackers, or cheese and apples, or just a big chunk of cheese.
My late afternoon snack just now was a homemade fresh blueberry, honeydew melon, lactose free kefir, flaxseed smoothie, and a mini cheese sandwich.
hopefully this list might trigger you to try some new things.
good luck.
