I had Life alert for my father. He lived in the dwelling above me.
One day he gave me the scare of my life. He was 79, health was OK. He was still self sufficient. He had an optometrist appointment that morning, then doing his lenses. Knew he'd be gone for awhile. In the afternoon, I went in the garage to leave to run an errand, and his car was there....it was cold. I told my kids to go inside and remain in their rooms. I braced myself for what I feared, finding him deceased. I went upstairs and he was on the living room floor, trying to get up. Arms and legs full of carpet burns, still in his PJ's, disoriented. Don't know how long he'd been there, he never knew either. The EMT's came, suspected stroke. After days of tests and waiting for results, he was diagnosed with a blood cancer, which took his life 4 years later.
After that day, I called and got him the system. Easy to install and to return when he passed. But he hated it and would never put in on, but had it nearby. I think it can even be in a clip or bracelet form.
It's better to be safe than sorry and I highly recommend it.
