medications post jpouch

Has anyone had to change medications after getting a jpouch or ileostomy? The only non IBD med I'm on is effexor XR which is an extended release drug for anti anxiety. Coming off of it sucks since it has pretty crappy withdrawal symptoms, but I have to make sure I don't get surgery and then all of a sudden am dealing with withdrawal symptoms on top of recovering since it wouldn't get absorbed anymore.

Has anyone had to deal with similar issues with SSRIs and if so how did you adjust/prepare in advance of surgery?

Hadn't thought about that. I forgot there's a non extended release version. Does that get absorbed in the small intestine?

Do some extended release medications still work without a colon? Or does it just depend? Do some people have slower transit times where it still gets absorbed enough?
