.... soooooo what all should I wax in prep for this?  I am female - getting proctocolectomy with end ileostomy on Monday.  Plan on waxing tomorrow - someone made mention that I should.  :)

If you don't shave it already, shave it. When I got there they came at me with one of those cheap razors and no shaving cream, luckily I always keep that area hair free so I didn't have to deal with that. The last thing you need is razor burn,lol. I suggest shaving your legs also, because it will be a while before you feel like it again.

i'm havng surgery to remove the rectal stump and making my loop ileo an end one. i'm planning on waxing my whole body before surgery.

I treated myself to an afternoon at the spa the day before my surgery. Made sure my hair was cut, all was waxed and a mani/pedi! Best wishes for a speedy recovery from your surgery!

Are you having anal closure?

Just waxing the front low enough so they wouldn't need to shave me for the horizontal incision was enough for me... I might have done more if I was anticipating a butt wound but without it that was enough. I also waxed enough on the sides that I wouldn't have to worry about wearing a bathing suit for the rest of the summer. Didn't do more than that.

I don't know if you should wax it at home, but you can shave it yourself. They make special razors and shaving cream just for it. I have never had it waxed I'm too chicken! I just shave. tmi, but I use the blue bikini zone shaving cream, then the razors that have the shaving cream bar around them already. I sometimes use the small razors especially for that for certain areas down there, but it doesn't get it very smooth so I usely just use a regular razor.

I did the same amount of as Pluot mentioned... just beyond where I expected my mid-line incision would end (though I shaved and did not wax). I did not worry about the backside and I did have my anus removed and sewn shut. I did not want to be overzealous with the hair removal-- I was paranoid about nicking myself and then getting a nasty infection right before my surgery since I had been so sick and my immune system was out of whack. I figured I would leave it to the surgery team since my surgeon hadn't mentioned anything about it being necessary to do in my pre-surgery instructions. If the surgery team did any extra shaving beyond what I did, I could hardly tell. They didn't remove everything that is for sure.

OH. BOY. That wax is awful. I did it here at home, while it hurt like h*** only about 15% of the hair was removed from the areas I did. At this point I decided to use the tweezers instead. LOL, more effective for me.

I am having an anal closure done - the best results I had with my waxing are that area and the perianal region.... otherwise - no good, just use tweezers.

All in all I've decided to finish with plucking only the remaining areas in accordance to Pluot's plan. I did have a C-section and at least I know exactly where the horizontal incision will be.

Thanks so much everyone & I must say that my skin feels very violated :|

MM- just curious, are they going to re-use your C-section incision?

Yes, they will use the old incision - as they also did for my tubaligation.... busy place :)

oh no.. i'm sorry it didn't work out well. i didn't realized you're going to do it your self. my meaning was going to a cosmetician to do it. there's no way i can do it by my self.
