Generally, yes, it is very normal. Everyone passes mucus anally after a collectomy. Part of the rectum is still there, and it produces mucus all the time. Most people pass a little blood as well, there might be inflamation in the rectum. Mucus could also have an unpleasant odor, it doesn't mean there is an infection. Mine did not smell good. It was white, grey, and sometimes even slightly green. Green could mean an infection, but I did not have an infection when I had green mucus.
