Colectomy and U.T infections

Just a quick survey... Do many post colectomy patients here suffer with recurring urinary infections? We have had a particularly hot summer here and I know hydration is often a problem. Just seems impossible to get enough water on board!

Patrick, Colectomy for indeterminate colitis 09 and ileostomy reversal, 2010. Generally very well, always looking for ways to be better.

No troubles with that here. I had one right after surgery (probably from the darn catheter!) but none since.

Not me. We had one of the hottest summers on record this year, but that was in the UK where even our hot summers would probably feel like their coldest day of the year to some places, to be fair.

     I had one about a month post op, but none since then even though I was hospitalized four times for dehydration.   No dehydration issues during the last year though yeah !  Learned my lesson about drinking enough water.

     I had diarrhea...bag filling up very fast and had to empty about eight times in one day and usually I empty only four or five times....but, I think it was a 24 hr bug that is traveling throughout this area.  Thank GOD no vomiting with it..whew...then I would really end up in the hospital.

after my colectomy with ileo rectal anstomosis i don't remember i had UTI problems, but when i had the loop ileostomy created a year after my colectomy, i had 7 UTIs within the first year. now i keep it from coming again just by taking 2 cranberries tablets every day. it's been 2 more yrs since and i havn't got it again. only about 1 1/5 yrs ago i had a blockage and the day of blockage didn't take my cranberries, the next day had a UTI again.
