Colostomy comment by Cincinnati police offends; opens dialogue

Coincidentally, I was stopped at an intersection just an hour ago. There were two policemen there monitoring drivers for seat belt violations.

Policeman: Why aren't you wearing your seat belt sir?

Me: I have an ostomy.

Policeman: What's that?

Me: I have a bag right here (pointing).

Policeman: I knew what that was. Just making sure you knew. Have a great day sir.

Very professional, pleasant...no hassle.

you get to drive a vehicle with an ostomy and not have to wear a seat belt?

(is this a state where the belt is not mandatory or something)

you don't like wearing a seat belt? Dayam dude, what happens if you get in a medium accident and you fly through the windshield.

I was working on my car with my dad this one day and he made a sudden stop from like 20 miles per hour, I flew on the dash. And that's only at 20 miles an hour.

You can do what you want really, but you might want to reconsider lol.

Makes one wonder how we survived the 40s and 50s, doesn't it!!!!

i think the difference is that cars back then were actually made of metal and they were all about the same size. And like Pluot said, a lot of people died in car accidents. Women also smoked and drank during pregnancy, now we know that is a bad idea. A few hundred years ago people solved medical problems with leeches, now we know that's a bad idea!
New inventions have come along to make us safer, seat belts are one of them.
If someone is stupid enough to not wear one, then whatever, but if that causes someone to lose their parent or their spouse or their child, then that's selfish on the part of the person who just doesn't "like" to wear a seat belt.
