red bubble forming around where stoma meet the skin

Probably a granuloma, if you do a forum search there are lots of posts about them. It's actually on the skin, not the stoma, so you want to protect it from output (and it may hurt or sting a bit). When I had one my WOCN told me to make sure to put my barrier ring over it. They can also sometimes be 'burned' off with silver nitrate. Good idea to check in with your WOCN but probably nothing serious :)

Well, you never know... you might still have some suture leftover in that spot. My granuloma formed around a piece of suture -- the technical term is suture granuloma -- and it had nothing to do with leaking output, it was an inflammatory response to the suture itself. For whatever reason my body just doesn't dissolve dissolvable sutures, they always have to be removed by hand, and my stomas were no exception.

Everything I've read says these are uncommon but MANY of us here have had them so who knows... I guess we have overactive immune systems even without the colon, so maybe that is why we're more prone to them.

Thanks! I got an appt at the Ostomy out clinic on Oct 16. They;re only open 1 once a week and next Wed is full. I did go to my PCP but all they can do is refer me there. Is it always so complicated and long to get your ostomy treated?

I also have a call into a wound nurse maybe he can just prescribe something. We'll see!
