I only managed to gain 5lbs after losing about 38lbs. My body is pretty weak now to be honest. Tried all sorts of way to put on weight but is not working. My ftiendss suggested me to have supper and sleep right after that but i think is too unhealthy and i can't eat much at night.

Well for the healing time of your wound depends on:
1. age. apparently the older you get, the longer it takes
2. open wound/stitched

For me, my wound was about 1.5inches deep and 2.5inches wide after my colostomy reversal. I took me almost a month to heal (daily wound dressing). If surgeon did not remove the stitches. I think about a week to heal. I am an expert in doing dressing now. :) Do drink more protein drinks like soy milk, It speeds up ur recovery.

I've heard about "packing the wound" which I asked my surgeon about but he said I will not have to do this. He explained some specific type of suture he'll be using to sort of close the opening. My big incision from my first surgery is completely healed, that wasn't terribly long, just over a month. Now it's time for some scar cream to try and soften the scar a bit.

let's add something else to my list of issues since surgery. I woke up with intense pain in my back on the left side...so bad I went to the ER. Come to find out I have a kidney stone and I'm patiently waiting for it to pass. I was given FloMax, Percocet and an anti nausea. I hope it won't be too painful. I was reading that bowel disorders and surgery can be a cause of stones. I have to pee in a container then filter it and bring the stone to a urologist. That will be after the surgery this week. I was told I should pass it in 24 hours.

and more bad news...due to my kidney stone my surgeon won't do my procedure. He wants me to be clear of the kidney stone first :( I went to the ER yet again tonight as I was vomiting up any of the water I was drinking today and the pain was unbearable. They said it's about to drop into my bladder and he said I'm home free when that happens. I'm sure I'll be able to schedule my reversal next week...I hope.

it looks like I passed it! It's a tiny little sucker. Hard to believe something so small caused that brutal pain! I'm hoping there aren't anymore pieces but they said there was only one stone. I'm sure I'll see if more comes out the next time I pee. Time to call back the surgeon for my reversal!

I don't wish that pain on anyone! I'm hoping when I call Friday that they have an opening next week for surgery. The pre op nurse said my blood tests are only good for so long before I need them again

That's great that the stone passed and that you're on track for next week. I feel like everything has happened really fast for you - like you jsut had UC, then surgery the other day, but it was really quite a while ago. Time is flying. I wish you the best luck in healing quickly.

Tell me about it, I can't believe it's been over 3 months already and a whole mess of complications along the way. I think I'd take my post surgery pain over that kidney stone anytime. I'm hoping we can schedule soon as my remicade is wearing off and my bleeding has come back full force. I'm not allowed to get remicade near my surgery as it will impair wound healing according to the surgeon.

well I have a reschedule date of December 17th. I just need to get medical clearance from my Primary in regards to the kidney stone issue as well as a general physical. I'm not sure how he'll clear me for the stone, maybe another xray to show it's gone but I'll be bringing it to him :) Nothing better stop me now. I will say, my body knows it's due for Remicade (was supposed to be this week) because my colitis has come back with a vengeance. I had to put myself back on Prednisone for relief and I won't do that unless I'm bad. I just informed my doc to see if he wants to adjust my dose (40mg).

I just was told by my pre op nurse that I have been cleared for my surgery tomorrow. I don't have a time yet as I'm waiting for them to call but I'm good to go :D
