Blood from stoma?

I was doing a pouch change today and noticed a speck of blood when I was drying it similar to the amount from a paper cut. No pain or fevers, output is good. I have more gas than usual but I thought that was from indulging in all the holiday treats! Anyway, has anyone experienced this? I called my gi who was not concerned. Any thoughts would be appreciated! Thanks

That is very normal the stoma bleeds really easily. I've had mine bleed enough to show up in the bag. There is a member on here who cut hers with her fingernail and said it bled so much she had to wait to change the bag.

Echoing the same. You are ok. It can be freaky and scary but you are ok.

I'll third that.... it's pretty common for me to have a little blood when I'm changing... stomas bleed really easily, as summer said.

Another thought: have you eaten anything red recently? Eating red beets, etc drinking red drinks can cause output that looks like blood.
