Does drinking energy drinks affect a stoma in anyway? Such as gasses? Or making it liquidy?

I didn't drink anything like Monster, if those are the energy drinks you're talking about
. I'd be careful with those, mainly because of the sugar content in most of them. High sugar content or any fake sugar content made my output become very watery and the amount of it soared. I didn't have the problem with Ensure, which I guess is technically not an energy drink, but it sure helped me.

Would a sugar free one have a different affect?

I agree with Bay Area Guy. Energy drinks are mostly carbonated so yes, there will be gas. Also, there is a ton of sugar in there so it's really no good to your health. If you look, for example, at a Red Bull can, it will list "sugar" on the top of the ingredients, which means most of that drink is just made up of sugar which can definitely irritate your system. Let alone, drinking this stuff will actually tire your body more since you're asking it to work harder (especially the heart). I think one tiny 185 ml can will not hurt if it's a one time thing, but it will depend on how your stoma will react to it. I was very gassy and had a lot of output when I drank this tiny can last year. Since then, it was adios for me.
For some reason, I somehow think that sugar-free drinks are more harmful than regular drinks.
This is something totally unrelated but just wanted to share:

Beware of any sugar free energy drink - or any drink/food that is labeled sugar free. They most likely will contain Aspartame/Phenylalanine - both are neurotoxins, never meant to be in many of our drinks and food items. There are 92 very serious and sometimes ultimately deadly side effects documented from Aspartame and yet the FDA is ignoring all of these cases. They are turning a blind eye to people being poisoned by Aspartame and/or inducing symptoms that mimic disorders such as MS, Alzheimers, Parkinson's, etc.
I used to use 5 hour energy drinks on occasion, 6 months ago. I lost 50% of my hearing in one ear overnight and am now diagnosed with Meniere's Disease. It cannot be proven but my doctors have implied my Aspartame consumption might have caused this hearing loss (I chewed Dentynne and Trident like crazy, used Breath Saver mints, ate Yoplait Light Yogurt, used the 5 hour energy shots, drank regular Pepsi or Coke while dining out in restaurants and I believe Aspartame was in the tubing when my drinks were filled, from previous Diet Soda's ordered by other patrons, etc.).
I am 58 and I swear I had no idea how harmful Aspartame is until I lost my hearing.
It now takes me 90 minutes to grocery shop - I read each and every label and try not to buy processed food.
Sorry to derail this topic but consumers really do need to read EVERY drink or food label - for the rest of their lives.
It's scary to know we are ingesting chemicals used to create formaldehyde, ant poison, and wood glue!
