Many years ago had a temporary colostomy due to perforated colon after colonoscopy. Then had hernia surgery, mesh came dislodged and ended up migrating into my large intestine. Subsquent surgery landed me with a permanent colostomy four years ago, which due to the position of my old temporary colostomy, had to be placed high on my right side, almost under my ribs. Did fairly well but now stoma has changed in size and have to cut pouch opening myself to fit. After application of new pouch I have some pain and discomfort for a day or two, then it is time to change the pouch again. My permanent colostomy has always been of very loose watery stool, no matter what I eat. I now have a fecal impaction, and I was told to expect only mucus excretion from the rectum. I have much trouble wearing jeans or slacks, or anything fitting at the waist, due to the location of my colostomy. Has anyone out there had any of these problems? I certainly would welcome any solutions.
