Is it important to have the waterproof barrier of the wafer stick well? Mine have wrinkles and are loose at the edges, even right after applying a new wafer. I only have about 3 weeks of experience, and I've never had a wafer leak, changing them every 3 or 4 days, so I guess I'm ok, but don't want to push my luck. I don't use any skin prep adhesive because it (3M Cavilon spray) seems to have the opposite effect, making it stick too well, causing red marks when removing (and I don't want to use adhesive remover). I cover the pouch and wafer in the shower (with plastic wrap), so they don't loosen more from the water (Hollister says they might).
Do others have wrinkly loose wafer barriers and just not worry about it (mine is colostomy, not ileostomy)? Or is there something else I should add to the edges to hold them down better?
