J Pouch

Hello, my TD is in a few weeks.  Are there any signs or symptoms I could recognize whether my J pouch is leaking right now? My enema is Monday and I'm praying it's NOT leaking, but would I even know if it was now? Fever, pain, blood, etc? Thanks!

The whole point of letting the j-pouch heal with a loop ileo (instead of connecting it immediately) is that if there's a leak at the anastomosis, it will heal by itself without making you sick because stool won't be passing through it. Most leaks heal by themselves so within ~8 weeks or so of surgery you're usually fine. Sometimes it can take a little longer. But because you have the loop ileo there's really no way of knowing until the enema (which is a good thing!).

Based on talking with friends who have had jpouch problems, they had fever and pain.
