I am not sure if i am in the right spot or not. I am scheduled for a subtotal colectomy in a few weeks. I have had problems with constipation since i was about 16, and i am 33 now next month. I have went through stages in my life were i started drinking prune juice till that no longer did anything for me. Over the years, i had to keep changing what i would take, due to remaining constipated. I had to have one surgery already to have one foot of my large intestine removed, because of a rectal prolapse. They did not know if that surgery would help with the constipation or not. They found i had an extra loop and took that much out. Unfortunately it did not help, and caused me to start bloating a lot. Now they are going to remove the entire large intestine, and attach the small intestine into the colon. I am severly worried about having a bag. I do not want a bag at all, and the dr. told me the chance of needing one is very small. I am going to a very good surgeon, that has nothing but good reviews, and i will be at a good hospital. The other issue I am worried about is the weight loss/gain. I am not sure which i will have the issue with. Right now I am at 115 lbs. but used to weigh 173 and do not want to gain, or loose. I lost weight with the last surgery. And what should i expect with pain and bowel movements? and for how long? thanks everyone
