Rectum check

How do they check your anus/j-pouch for any abscess ? I have bad pain and if it don't go away will call the dr. But I'm afraid him checking it will hurt worse. Had my j-pouch put in 4-15-14. It. Just started hurting the last couple weeks. I can't stand it. Pain pills don't help much.

They did the digit check(finger) on me yesterday after doing a contrast study on my pouch. It wasn't as painful as I feared.

No matter what you should call the surgeon's office or at least email them and let them know your current condition.

The abscess that I had was a direct result/complication from the surgery that developed almost immediately. Because of where it was located in my pelvic region, they put in a transgluteal drain tube (yep, thru my upper left butt cheek). The drain had to stay in place for six weeks while it drained and healed. That was a loooonnng six weeks. But it healed up fine and I was able to go forward with my takedown surgery with only a small delay in time.
