If I understand correctly, your husband currently has an ileostomy? If that is the case, he should not be taking time released medications, because they will not be properly absorbed. Most medicines like that are designed to be released mostly in the colon, but if someone has an ileo, they never make it that far. When I got my ileo, the surgeon and WOCN told me to not take medications that are time released or have and enteric coating. I informed my pharmacy about this, and they double check any prescription I get, and try to find another option if the standard version of a med won't work.
