Silent,
I had a really rough time of it with the Loop Ileo, the thing would just constantly put out stool like 24x7, it never took a break even when I was trying to change the ostomy. ugh
It was a nightmare but at the about 2 1/2 to 3 month mark my small intestine started to heal and things noticeably started to slow down but no-where near the end-ileo output.
Besides finding the right ostomy products for you I'd also try and slow things down as much as possible and get the output to be less liquid which means less stool on your skin. Have you asked for any Lomotil, Loperimide, tincture of Opium and Metamucil? They gave me all 4 to try and slow down and thicken my output.
I suffered for 14 weeks with the Loop-from-hell. I recently had my reversal and all my suffering was worth it, my BMs from day 1 has been 3-5 a day, I've been able to sleep through the night and at the 3 week mark I was able to pass gas without sitting on the toilet. I know it doesn't help much but keep looking forward to life after the Loop-Ileo.
I have tried Loperamide, Codeine and Fybogel (Ispaghula husk, that you mix with water and drink, gross!).
Loperamide is useless and Codeine only works in doses that I would never tell my doc I've taken! The Fybogel is an oddity, sometimes it stops liquid output in it's tracks, others it has no effect.
Thanks for posting though, I've been spending a lot of time wishing I'd stuck with the end ileo, and to hear how well others are doing after takedown gives me hope that it will all turn out for the best.
