Hollister bags crinkle...

I love Hollister bags, I have never had a leaking issue with them but they crinkle pretty loud. Pisses me off.. i wear a convex 1 piece.

Never tried Hollister, but funnily enough today I spoke to a Hollister rep who is sending me some samples. Not sure they'll beat my usual Salts bags and stomahesive padte though.

I use a Hollister 1 piece convex bag as well - love the bag, with the exception of the crinkling! I'll accidentally touch it over my clothes in a meeting and it sounds like I have plastic wrap under my clothes! I like how it's convex with a low profile though - so it's here to stay! :)

yup, I feel like I'm wearing a diaper sometimes, based on the noise! I usually wear Hollister & experience the crinkling. Right now though, I've got on Convatec, trying to use up supplies, & they crinkle too, even more than Hollister! I suppose it's a small price to pay...

Have just received my Pelican samples (for some reason the Hollister rep sent Pelican samples) and that convex bag looks virtually identical to the Salts ones I'm already using except for the material. The Salts ones look better to me.

They all crinkle to a degree, you get used to it. I noticed most bags make a lot more noise when they are new. The crinkle doesn't go away completely, but does lessen the longer I'm wearing a bag.

I use ostomy secrets and the extra layer over the pouch greatly reduces the tiny amount if crinkle. Coming to think if it, the crinkle is only audible if one were p,aying around with it while naked- any clothing at all over it pretty much covers up that tiny volume of crinkle. (So little that I never even thought about it at all until this thread). Incidentally, I only use the one sided, transparent in front pouches- I like to see what's in there and find they are a bit lower profile.

PS just saw Pluot's input and yeah, ditto, like I say I never really thiught about the crinkle because it is so inaudible. I mean, i have to struggle to detect it even if naked and it certainly wouldn't be audible even in a library or church quiet room with any clothing on.

I only wore Hollister and never experienced a crinkle! I wonder why. I pretty much only wore the opaque ones that have a thin extra fabric layer on the front to make it opaque, maybe that helps?? I also always tucked them into my underwear and usually wore a tight underlayer like high waisted underwear or a tank top, I would imagine that improved the crinkling as well. Even so, I can't remember ever noticing it even when I was naked... It's a mystery.

If you're leak free and your skin is healthy be thankful for that. I had 3 1/2 great years with my end ileo. Now I have a loop, and good skin/leak free days are a thing of the past.
I would happily wear a neon sign advertising my ostomy in return for a leak free stoma!

I think part of the reason mine crinkles so much is because my stoma is pretty high up on my stomach. I also have a short torso, so it's basically in the middle of my stomach, not low down. I do find that if I'm wearing a tight tank top underneath my top/sweater/etc, then I don't hear it crinkle as much.

While I have had great luck with my Hollister bag...I'm starting to question things now! I changed my back last night, and my skin was pretty bad (it was burning too)...and now I can feel it burning tonight again. I may change it in the morning...and hope that the skin heals! I don't want to have to try another 6 bags again to find one that works!

The only time that I have the sLightest thought that the crinkle might just might be ever so slightly audible is when emptying the pouch in a very quiet public restroom while sitting next to another occupied stall lol... In these situations I do a very slow motion emptying that basically avoids any crinkle sound. Not that I should care what the hell my stall neighbor hears- they are probably more preoccupied by the sound of their own farts as they drop off their own presents.

Funily enough, in that situation, I'm more concious of undoing the velcro tabs on the bag. My neighbour must wonder what's going on.

I make NO effort to keep the sound of velcro or the crinkling bag minimized when I'm in a public or work restroom. And I always chuckle to myself when I think about what everyone else thinks I could be doing in there!

Lol. Actually one thing I don't like .... I am at the hospital 3 times a week for dialysis, 4 hours per session, so as my right arm can't be moved while I'm on the machine, so I can't empty the bag myself. The nurses really don't mind doing it, but I mind them doing something
I normally do for myself. Usually needs emptying twice during a session.

I've used Hollister 1 piece for about two years. Never noticed the crinkle. I've been 99% leak free so I'm happy with that.
