What is the expected recovery time of the reconnecting surgery? I've had my stoma for 4 weeks now and I'm going to a post op appointment in 6 weeks. Anyone have some happy news for me?

I had a temp ileo from early May 2, 2010 with a reconnection on July 21st. In terms of recovery, I was sitting in the chair the next day and walking by that evening. Gas pains started around 11 and I think I walked the halls for five hours that night before gas started to pass. about
an hour later, my bowels started to move and I did a lot of walking then.....to the bathroom. I had probably 15 BM's that day. Anyway, I was discharged three days later and still walked to relieve gas pains. The stoma incision was left
open to heal and I think it was about
two weeks for that to completely close. I got back into the gym for cardio workouts about
three weeks after and started doing some light weights about
two weeks after that.
Hope that helps!

I've had my stoma for 7 weeks now. Initially I was told I'd have it for 4-6 months before going on the list for reversal, and warned that the waiting list can be quite long.
As it turned out I didn't need chemo, so I gather reversal could potentially be earlier, presumably cutting down the 4-6 month time, not the reversal waiting list time.
As I've been having problems with dehydration because of my stoma, last week my stoma nurse said I could potentially be elligible for early reversal - I guess in that case I'd be treated as an emergency case. She said that the earliest possible time for reversal was 8 weeks. We may have now solved the dehydration issues with drugs, so this may no longer be an option for me.
I'm seeing my stoma nurse again next week and a gastro bod in 2 weeks, so I guess this will be a discussion point.
