I'm sorry you've had to be there so long. I thought 5 days was hard! Are you having to miss school or work because of it? I've had to take online college courses so I am kind of behind the rest of my friends. Oh well lol. Don't worry too much about
the bag. Yes it is a very big adjustment and something you really need to get used to, but it doesn't have to control you. Take it from me, someone who really did not want to have a bag and got really frustrated by it, it was still better than the disease. Yes I am glad I have the chance to have it gone and have a jpouch but the bag is not the end of the world like I thought in the beginning. It's very true what people told me. Once you change it, empty it, etc a few times you get more used to it. It gets easier every time. I only had mine 2 months so I didn't have a long time with it. If yours will be longer just try out different products and brands to see what works best for you. It's just a lot of trial and error but once you find something that works, you will be a pro! A stoma or ostomy nurse should talk to you as well in the hospital and explain everything. And mentally I had to get used to it as well. At first I didn't want to go out or anything but then I thought, you know what, I dont care. It is a part of me right now and I am not letting it control me. It gets easier, trust me. Don't get depressed over it either like I did lol. If you feel like that, make a post on here. There are so many awesome people here that can help you through this like people did for me! Sorry this is so long, it is like a book haha (sorry!) but hope it helps!
