One more question

Does anyone know the statistics of developing anal cancer if the anus is left intact after a proctocolectomy with end ileo and the UC comes back and attacks the anus?? I was just wondering if they could just treat the UC ( so far no luck with the cort suppositories). Wondering if a short course of prednisone (although I detest that drug) could get it under control? This is P****** me off, big time.

Sue....I most certainly did. I asked the surgeon I am now seeing and he seemed reluctant to do the surgery. He said it is a BIG surgery and he didn't know what he would be up against...he may have to go into the abdomen, etc.. I just spoke with his secretary. I had an MRI of the pelvic area done last week, as well as blood tests and EKG. She said everything was fine and he is going ahead with the biopsies next Thursday. The biopsies that he performed last November were all negative for dysplasia and cancer. I saw his associate last month and he was the one who said he would suggest they do more biopsies..so...guess he saw something he didn't like. SCARYYYYYY.
