This past Thursday was my five year anniversary of my j pouch surgery. Time flies! I was away last week on a cruise vacation which is something I NEVER could have done with UC. I'm so grateful for this procedure. To anyone going into surgery soon or recovering....it's scary and hard but the end result is so worth it. yeah

Congratulations Maryann! Thanks for all of your posts, you have helped me a lot. At almost 5 months from my takedown surgery I know I made the right decision. My quality of life is great and I have no regrets. It's great to hear how well you are doing 5 years out. If I hadn't had surgery I am not sure I would be alive today.

Congrats to both of you! And thanks, as always, for sticking around here and sharing your stories and experiences. You (and everyone else here) were both more helpful to me during my surgeries than you'll ever know!

Maryann and Christine1946....so glad to hear you are both doing well!. I remember the lows of 5 yrs ago so well. ( it all sort of feels like another life though). Dillon, as well, is doing great. He has had one bout of pouchitis but it was dealt with easily.

Enjoy those cruises and all the things you are now able to do!

I think of all you guys here so often!

that is great. I will be doing my first take down ileostomy on August 26. you had responded to one of my threads on the UC forum and it really helped me.
