Ileostomy scar site overtime...

Hey guys!
So this is aimed more at people that have had their jpouch or reversal for a while. I was wondering how the ileostomy scar looks after a few years time? How much does it fade, stuff like that? Mine is still quite big and spans more above and underneath the actual incision line. The incision line is also still really smooth and raised. Just wondering how it differs overtime in regard to color, size, etc. Also, do any of you recommend using scar creams and things on it or just leaving it be? Not anything important, just some things I thought of and was curious about(: Thanks guys!

Hi Amanda,
My reversal was almost five yrs ago so it's been a while. My stoma site was loosely sutured closed (not left open to heal) and it healed really nice. I can barely see the scar now. The first two years the scar was darker but now it's totally faded and the same color as my skin. I'm not entirely convinced those scar creams work and they can be expensive. When my son was little he cut his forehead and needed stitches. I applied all kinds of creams to his scar after it healed but it never made a difference.
