I still felt pretty bad at 6 weeks post-op. I was very sick going into surgery too, so I think that had a lot to do with it.
I still had fatigue for probably 3+ months after surgery. After 3 months was when I would say I was feeling good again, but it was probably 6 months until I felt like myself.
I had pain around my stoma at 6 weeks too - do you have any sutures/stitches left? I still had at 6 weeks & they were a pain, constantly pulling. When I told my surgeon he said that they would eventually come out, and they did not long after!
I still had abdominal pain for probably 4-5 months, usually after I ate. My stoma nurse said that this is normal, your intestines really don't like being handled, and can take a long time to settle down. And also if there's bits of scar tissue forming, that can hurt too. I'd imagine the burping is coming from that too, but could be wrong.
I can't comment on the J-pouch, that's probably something to talk to your surgeon about.
It is a very slow healing process; I thought at some stages that I'd never feel better! But it will come. Sleep as much as you want, I know that feeling of never waking up refreshed, so keep relaxing. But do try to get out as much as you feel up to doing, getting lethargic can make you feel worse.
And eat little & often, your body needs food to heal!
Good luck with your surgeon on Monday!
