I just had my jpouch/loop ileostomy surgery about
2 months ago. A few nights ago I had a couple drinks for I haven't been able to do this in all my time with UC/surgeries. Now, a few days later, I have been experiencing sharp pains through my tailbone area, lower back and lower abdomen, and right hip. Any ideas as to what this may be? Could the consumption of alcohol have an effect like this?

I never had any problems drinking alchohol. The one think that is bad about
alcohol is that it dehydrates, and I was already dealing with dehydration, so I drank very minimally with the loop. I can't see the alcohol being the cause a few days later. It sounds almost like you pulled something.

Doubtful the alcohol has anything to do with it. Have you lifted anything heavy? Sounds like you strained something.

Any suggestions as to treat/rid of the pain? Everything from standing, walking, even sitting causes pain

Sadly, usually those types of pains just need time. Relaxation is probably the best thing for you.

are you having any excess mucus/discharge?
Since you are not connected yet it might be diversion pouchitis, once you get hooked back up it can go away.
I think it could be this because of the tailbone and hip pain which is common with pouchitis. When are you scheduled to get reconnected?
You should call your GI and see if they can help find the cause for the pain.

Niks,
If it is diversion pouchitis then it is common, don't get too worried about
it; like I said it will probably go away after you are reconnected.
I take Sulfasalazine for the joint pain and pouchitis symptoms (different pouchitis than what you might have); it is a 5asa. It helps me a lot with the joint pain.
Do Not take NSAIDS for the pain.

it's not the booze, I can guarantee that! I drink a glass of wine practically nightly, & do not experience any pain like that- granted, I have an end ileo, but still. Try some Tylenol, see if that helps.

I didn't have any issues drinking alcohol with my loop ileo.
