I've had my take down a little under a year and a half ago and i still struggle with going too often. Most of it has to do with gas, in constantly feeling gassy and there's nothing I've been able to do to figure it out.
One thing I started messing with was regular use of benefiber and Metamucil (not at the same time). The Metamucil pills seemed to work well for thickening but then I did some reading and the benefiber supposedly didn't have a side effect of gas.
I'm sort of at a crossroads here, with the Metamucil I'd take 2 pills 4x a day. With the benfiber I take one heaping spoonful of powder with each meal in some water.
I'm just seeing what do you all use and what has your experience been? What dosages do you take? Thanks.

Rabbit,
Have you tried changing your diet? Bacteria produces most of the gas and bacteria need carbs for food so if you starve them with a low-carb diet that might help keep the gas/bacteria to a minimum. Do you have sleep apnea? That's another way of getting gas into your GI tract. I'd also stay away from carbonated beverages.
I can't comment on the fiber supplement since I haven't needed to use one.
Are you taking probiotics? You might want to change to another probiotic if it gives you too much gas.

Rabbit,
Is your abdomen distended/bloated at all? Another cause could be SIBO which could be treated with an antibiotic; I've been tested for SIBO before, it is a 90 minute breath test.
/en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Small_intestinal_bacterial_overgrowthJ-pouchers are more susceptible to SIBO but it is usually easily treatable.
